These are abandoned millstones at the southern end of Stanage Edge.

Can you imagine if you'd just got these ready after chipping away at them for months and the manager walks up and says "Sorry mate, the French have just come up with a cheaper way of making these.."

An interesting print which looks like it was set further north along Stanage Edge, perhaps at the "Roman Road" area

clearly these poor fellows knew nothing about the forthcoming "Millstone Black Friday"!
